Through
the spirit of his words and the power
of pure intent, Raja, gifted writer,
speaker, lyricist, vocalist and publisher
reminds us of the indelible and undeniable presence
of divine creativity within each of us.
He deeply believes that rekindled memories
of who we are, at our core, will compel
us to embrace our roles in constructing
a "New Social, Spiritual, Political
and Economic Paradigm." His dedication
to the belief that a shift in collective
consciousness is on the horizon
- a shift that will facilitate our ascension
to a place where unconditional love and
divine self-government reign supreme
- is deeply felt in his trademarked "Music
for a New Earth" songs
such as, "Rise," "Anytime
We Come Together," "The Voices
of Change," "I Come (A Song
of Spiritual Renaissance)," and
each work he shares. He envisions that,
in this space absent fear, guilt or blame
(where the default mode is to honor our
humanity's quest for the best and highest
for all concerned), ego-driven perspectives
are usurped by divine insight, allowing
us to create from our essence and live
from the dictate of our authentic selves.
Considering
himself a relatively quiet presence while
growing up as Samuel Crumby, in the Northeastern
Ohio city of Barberton, Raja, confesses
having a great deal on his mind. His
thoughts often led him to his "private
sanctuary" in the woods behind the
house on Harter Avenue, shared with his
mother, Nellie, stepfather, James, and
seven siblings. As early as age five,
he sought solace from an incessantly
oppressive environment by scaling the
barb-wired fence that separated their
back yard from those woods and a nearby
farmer's cow pasture. Raja vividly recalls
the "conversations with God" that
were key in grounding his early life
with a sense of purpose; a grounding
that has sustained him during times when
his life seemed to make no sense at all.
He emerged from these consults with the
sense that the way he pressed through
hardship, persevered to accomplish his
goals and, ultimately, processed the
events of his life would bear fruit for
humanity. Determined that he would embrace
and mirror a set of values that
would enable him to demonstrate that
the power to manifest our destiny and
dreams is within our hands, Raja recalls
committing to live with his eyes wide
open for clues for making each step of
his life journey meaningful. Those values,
which include self-love, personal discipline
and responsibility, respect for self
and others, and a solid work ethic have
ushered Raja to this most propitious
time in his life and in the lives of
those he has come to serve.
Raja
shares that, without training or indoctrination,
he is predisposed to a spiritual perspective.
Through living with his spiritual eyes
open, he funnels insight, which speaks
to a greater potentiality; a potentiality
that can only be explored when we honor
ourselves enough to master our life path
and, thereby, apply our inherent value
in service to the needs of the collective.
A few years back, his mother asked if
he recalled his ability to see what we
termed "ghosts," when he was
a toddler; and he did. As a teenager,
of his own volition, Raja became so involved
with the Pentecostal church that his
punishment was that he could not attend.
Having had his fill of intolerable circumstances
and unreasonable restraints, having just
completed a stellar junior year in high
school, Raja accepted what he considered
the self-empowering though extremely
difficult side of an ultimatum, given
by his stepfather, and left home. Determined
to not be consumed by fearful thoughts
of his potential demise, or to be drawn
to drugs or any other aspect of the street
life, Raja determined that he would finish
school; doing so while living primarily
on his own, and finishing in a respectable
position among his graduating class.
Challenged,
if not haunted, by repeated declarations
by his stepfather that he was not and
would never be at home, and should "get
his own family if he wanted to have some
influence," Raja married early and
moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where (at
age twenty-two) he became a minister
in a Pentecostal church. After eight
years of dedicated service (which included
attending church a minimum of five times
per week), while honing his impromptu
speaking skills and singing/songwriting
abilities, Raja heard the voice of his
inner being instructing him to
come out and up to a higher calling.
After struggling to maintain his allegiance
with a ministry that declared its doctrine
as "the only path to God," Raja
relented and took the leap into the great
unknown. Following a later dictate from
Source to "forget everything you
think you know about me and I will cause
you to remember who I AM and who you
are in me," Raja's willingness to
release what he considered the "ultimate
truth" has made us the beneficiaries
of a wonderful outpouring of love, humanity,
and keen spiritual insight. Shaking off
residual memories of a harsh indoctrination,
in 1995, Raja founded the non-profit
I AM Unlimited Ministries.
Whether
during his childhood days of formulating
vocal groups with his cousins and friends
and singing in church and school choirs
and ensembles, to writing and performing
songs that electrified the congregations
at the church where he ministered, music
has played an impacting role in Raja's
life. As founder of the musical group "I
AM Unlimited or I AM U," he has
traveled, blessed and been blessed by
the souls of those with whom he has shared
his light, and continues his musical
gifting as a solo artist, integrating
his music, speaking engagements and workshops
into a wonderfully enlightening experience
for all.
Through
his efforts with I AM Unlimited Publishing,
Raja has authored and published
"The Tao
of Dishwashing - Preparing Your Soul
for the New Millennium," an
engaging analogy that utilizes each step
of the process of hand dish washing to
parallel steps in the process of ridding
our emotional, psychological energy fields
and our souls of the accumulated dross
of unconscious living. This book includes
chapter summaries, affirmations and exercises
to aid in activating the purging process
at a cellular/soul level. Raja recently
completed volume one of a three volume
series titled: "A Ph.D. in Being
Me: A Path to Grounding, Growing,
and Gifting Your True Self," as
well as part 1 of a three-part series
titled:
"The
Elimination of Fear: A Blueprint for
Honoring Our Humanity - Part 1: Fear
at the Roots," a four disc audio
presentation. In case you haven't come
across it yet, Raja's "The Art of
Living: What Do I Think About It?" two-disc
music project is an undeniable feast
for the consciousness and soul of humanity,
and excellently attests to his success
at having planted seeds that have born
fruit from which we can each draw sustenance.
Raja
is the editor, graphics and layout designer,
publisher and printer of, “Dr.
John Henrik Clarke – His Life,
His Words, His Works, “ a biographical
paperback and hardcover book on the life
of one of the foremost Black Historians,
scholars and educators of our age. Written
by Anna Swanston, thirteen year secretary
to Dr. Clarke, Raja demonstrated great
insight, skill and care in guiding this
project to a highly successful end.
Raja
speaks, writes and sings with rare clarity
and the deepest love and compassion for
humanity. Audiences are moved to
feel, think and be in new ways…clearing
the path for the divine unfolding of
our unique life’s purpose.
